Today was a day off from training for the players of the U.S. WNT, but that doesn't mean they weren't busy. In between some much deserved R&R, several players spent the day giving back to D.C. area children on behalf of the charitable organization Athletes for Hope. A baker's dozen of U.S. WNTeamers went to the Children’s National Medical Center in Northwest Washington in the morning and then five players went to the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Washington in Southeast Washington, D.C. in the afternoon. At the hospital, the players visited four different divisions and met with children during bedside, playroom, and classroom visits. Later that evening, five of the players held a soccer clinic for over 30 D.C. area children at the Robert V. Murray Metropolitan Police Clubhouse #11. “This was a wonderful opportunity,” said midfielder Leslie Osborne, “I’m so glad we were able to get involved on our day off. Both of these organizations do amazing work, and we were all happy to help out and make the day special for these kids. I know that they made it very special for all of us.” Well said, Leslie.

Northweast? Is that when you can't tell if its Northeast or Northwest? Nah I'm just kidding, DC Native here and I'm very excited for Saturday. Five years is too long to go without a game. I was at the Sweden game in 03 and haven't been able to go to one since.
Oh and just an FYI the Children's National Hospital is in Northwest
This is why I love this team! they are true role models!
I'm sure it was a good and special day for the kids at the hospital too :) It's just so heartwarming to have female soccer teams doing a visit to the hospital to make their day! It's usually the men's soccer teams that you hear that goes to visit those sick children at the hospital..to hear and read that a female soccer team (and the best team in the world) also does that...it's just so nice!
thats awesome they are doing this for everyone! i love this team and this just makes me respect them so much more! awesome group of girls!! now they just need to have a clinic thing in Charlotte :)
Is the team going to make it to the DC United game on Thursday night? It is an awesome atmosphere with drums/smoke and chants. Hopefully we can get the same cheering going on Saturday!
