And They're Off...

The U.S. team held its first training of 2008 at The Home Depot Center today and it was an energetic 90-minute session, although some players were admittedly shaking off some rust and holiday malaise. The team will undergo double sessions for most of the next four days before leaving for China on the evening of January 8. U.S. head coach Pia Sundhage has 26 players in camp and will choose 20 for the roster to travel to China. Forward Natasha Kai, who was called into the camp, will not be taking part in the training or the Four Nations tournament as she was hit with a case of bronchitis and needs a few weeks to recover before taking the field again. (Hey, that’s some real news! Although we wish Tash a quick recovery and some warm Hawaiian soup).

Tash is not alone: almost all my friends were sick, are sick (like me), or are just starting to get sick. I hope the rest of the girls are popping their vitamins because it’s going around. Nonetheless, here is a little virtual toast with my tea w/lemon to Kai: "to a speedy recovery". lol

PS
Blogmaster,
Could you please find out if the four nations will be televised or alternatively covered on Matchaccess. I think I can speak for all the fans when I say we have been suffering without soccer, and are ripe and ready to see our U.S. team back in action.

I have been missing watching THE team play and am glad the blog is back as it at least gives me some info about the game I love and the role models for all my kids.

Good to see that the blog is updating again after so long, since the WWC ended last September. Bad and sad to hear that Kai is down with bronchitis. Hope she will have a good rest and I'm hoping she'd perform well for the Olympics! Can hardly wait! and yea, blogmaster, do let us know if the matches are going to be televised.

Will be more than happy to watch the ladies in action after so long!
