Stormy Schedule

It’s official: Typhoon Wipha is messing with the WWC schedule. FIFA has amended the match schedule due to weather (we’re pretty sure that’s unprecedented), moving two matches that were to take place on Sept. 19 (Australia-Canada and Norway-Ghana) to Sept. 20. The USA’s Group B match tonight at 8 p.m. local in Shanghai and the Sweden-North Korea 8 p.m. match in Tianjin were not changed, but the amendments to the schedule means two matches will be played on Thursday, Sept. 20 instead of Wednesday., giving one less rest day to some of the teams in Groups C and D before their quarterfinal matches on Sept. 23.

More details are on ussoccer.com's news release on this subject.

Wow! Torrential rain makes for exciting conditions to play in! I sure hope ESPN re-airs the game after working hours today for all of us who wish we could be watching it now! Keep those blog entries coming. Thanks.

Great game girls! But watch yourself when you hold the ball at the end of the game to kill time....Its almost like asking for an elbow to the face. I realize you do it so they don't have a chance of scoring but we don't want you guys to get hurt either. Rest up!

So, they'll change the games for the other teams, but not for the US? That just doesn't make any sense. If the US had to play in the typhoon, then the other teams should have to, too. But wait...I forgot...if they change today's games, then they can accomodate the host team (China). Fair Play? I don't think so...
