Get to Know Ya

With so many young and new players on this trip, the players have been getting to know each other better and better as the days have passed in China. This evening, a bunch of players sat in the hall of the hotel on the team floor for quite a while, chatting, laughing, snacking and telling funny stories. Who says summer soccer camp ever has to end?

Actually I just looked on ussoccer.com and it said that all the matches will be aired on CCTV5,china's national sports network. That means that there should be a link to stream the game on your computer somewhere on the web. FYI the game times here in America are the following:
Jan.16: USA vs. Canada (12:00AM ET)
Jan.18: USA vs. Finland (1:00AM ET)
Jan.20: USA vs. China (2:20AM ET)
If I find a link to stream the games I will post it to the newest blog.

U.S. makes perfect start at Four Nations Tournament
+ - 18:20, January 16, 2008

Reigning champions the United States got off to a flying start after routing North America companion Canada 4-0 at the first match of the annual Four Nations Women's Soccer Tournament here on Wednesday.

After a disappointing 2007 FIFA Women's World Cup in China, the U.S. side, coached by former China boss Marika Domanski's assistant Pia Sundhage, went back to China to have their first international friendly in the new year. And the perfect show may greatly boost their confidence.

New face Amy Rodriguze will certainly find it difficult to forget the match as she made a brace against the Cannucks. The 21-year-old striker opened the scoring in the 52nd minute and blasted in her second 13 minutes later.

Rodriguze might have achieved her hat trick, if two of her efforts were not denied by the joint efforts of the keeper and the woodwork.

Substitute midfielder Lindsay Tarpley were the other player to attract the limelight. She also struck twice to seal victory for the Americans.

The U.S. team is without talisman striker Kristine Lilly, as the former captain is pregnant and has to rest for a year.

GO USA! nice game against Canada. Hao was on fire! Not only that the newbie A-Rod scored 2 goals. Go USC Trojans! Tarp also had 2 amazing goals. This team is working together so well. Can't wait to see the next game. I fell sorry for Becky Sauerbrunn. As she put it "first cap, first BROKEN NOSE, first win." GOOD LUCK GIRLS!!!
